The child of a Senegalese-born father and American-born mother, he began performing as a member of the Black Killah crew, first earning wide attention via performances on mixtapes including Dontcha 4 and Poska 25. After signing a solo deal with NTM rapper Joey Starr's fledgling B.O.S.S. label, Iron Sy issued his much-anticipated debut, I.R.O.N.Y., in mid-2006.
