This Minstrel Life is Tokyo Rosenthal's 7th release on the Rock & Sock Records label. This is the first album to contain any live performances from "Toke". There's a lot of political material on this record tackling subjects such as immigration, gay marriage, and the present presidential administration. Tokyo's genre is Americana , with Tex - Mex and some blues thrown in for good measure. Toke is joined on this record by a stellar group of musicians including the dB's Chris Stamey, Chatham County Line's John Teer, Charlie Chamberlain, Allyn Love,and many others. Tokyo wrote all the material with the exception of the lyrics on Wiregrass (Moira Saucer wrote those) and the great tribute to Merle Haggard of "Mama Tried".
