In the time of German occupation during World War II the Belgian capital Brussels was a paradise for swing fans (next to Paris, who had the legendary Hot Club de France and Amsterdam). The "Boeuf sur le Toit" was a legendary restaurant and club bar where the hottest bands of Brussels were regular guests - and the most prominent was Jean Omer with his "Swing Band of the Boeuf sur le Toit. This man had courage! He played the hottest jazz tunes, music that mostly could be sold only below the counter in those days - Jean Omer and his band played the tunes in public and caused a sensation.
