Let There Be Light (feat. Michael Nyman)
Italian rock noir band Belladonna collaborates with international music legend Michael Nyman on the track "Let There Be Light"
Taken from the wonderful "The Heart Asks Pleasure First" - soundtrack of the masterpiece movie "The Piano" - "Let There Be Light" pits the musical vision and the sublime piano playing of Michael Nyman against the sensual and mysterious alt-rock of Italian band Belladonna and the passionate, biting voice of Luana, the band's singer.
In the Internet era when anything can seemingly happen, a young italian band invites through Facebook a great of music like Michael Nyman to its London concert and not only does he show up, but he also falls in love with the band and starts an artistic collaboration.
And a year later "Let There Be Light" sees the light, with Nyman himself playing the piano: a highly emotional song and a noir tale (with surprise ending) that raises questions about retributive self-justice and about the injustices perpetrated by the Tyrants that wrote the most tragic and dark pages of History, from Hitler to Bin Laden, both name-checked in the song's lyrics.
