Maryliz Smith’s music has not been easily categorized, falling outside the traditional channels of performance practice. Her ability to mirror the essence and mood spanning from an individual’s interior state to a system’s internal growth pattern through musical improvisation, places her in a domain all of her own. She has written countless pieces for ensembles and solo instruments. Her concentrated training as a concert organist serves her well. She performs internationally as a performance artist, using electroacoustic material in combination with a variety of keyboard instruments. Most recently, she has written stories that are timeless about how we relate to our world, with life and death, with family and friends, in the workplace and at home.
