Maryliz is an internationally renowned performance artist, composer, and coach. Her recent years as a concert organist have been devoted to composing and performing challenging new works that explore the instrument’s textures and timbres. She has studied with some of the greatest European organists: Marie-Claire Alain, Anton Heiller, Gillian Weir, and Luigi Tagliavini.
One of her mandates comes from Karlheinz Stockhausen: "We simply open up rather then create links between specific musical processes and certain feelings or states of being -- sadness, joy, or wanting to dance. When that opening happens, one is modulated unceasingly by the music. Whether we are aware of this or not, we are modulated by a specific piece of music in a specific way."
When you hear her play her original compositions, Stockhausen's message becomes an invitation to the listener to join her in this space of curiosity and openness to possibilities.
