Broken Sounds
Hunters, Run! are basically a vocal band, but one that employs a loud and expansive musical background. Formed in late 2004, after a chance meeting between songwriter Larry Hess and drummer Nelson Colon in a downtown strip club, the band started as a recording project in Nelson’s basement in Brooklyn. Hess brought in some songs he had been working on since the breakup of his last band (NYC instrumentalists The Feud) and the two fleshed them out during late night drinking sessions. The results were encouraging and the two decided to put together a live band. Midwestern noise-rocker/hell-raiser Steve Shodin accepted an invitation to join the new band after seeing Hess perform solo at the Brooklyn dump “Trash”. Shodin’s powerful rock vocals were a perfect fit with Hess’s laconic and wry vocal style. Dan Fodera, a childhood friend of Larry’s and also a fellow writer as well as an actor (he is currently putting the finishing touches on his one-man play “The Dangina Monologues”), was recruited to play bass and
